Submissions
What We Want:
If it’s speculative, there’s a good chance we’re interested. Give us genre fiction, dreams and nightmares steeped in the fantastical. Wow us with dreamscapes laced with the uncanny and the strange, the beautiful and the whimsical. We’ll take any subgenre of fantasy, sci-fi, or paranormal horror. Unsure if your work is a fit? Here’s a non-exhaustive list of speculative subgenres that we want.

We do not accept literary fiction.
PUBLICATION CYCLE
We publish one volume per year, containing one dream issue and one nightmare issue. For more information on the difference between dream and nightmare issues, click here.
We are open year-round for submissions for our regular volumes and open occasionally for collaborative issues and anthologies.

What We Accept
Prose
Snoozine is looking for speculative fiction, particularly stories that explore the current theme and work with concepts relating to dreamscapes and nightmare realms.

-
2,000 word minimum

We will consider work up to 10,000 words only if it has been queried first. Before submitting work over 6,000 words, please reach out to us at did.snoozine@gmail.com to discuss the submission.

Poetry
We accept poetry submissions of up to five poems. Combined, these must not exceed one hundred lines.

Poetry that waxes philosophical will be a hard sell. We are looking for poetry that has concrete speculative storytelling elements.

Art
We accept art inspired by each issue’s theme.
-
Color artwork is preferred. We accept all visual art styles. However, photography will be a hard sell. Digital and traditional paintings, illustrations, and drawings are our favorites! Remember, as with prose, no AI or AI-assisted submissions will be accepted.
-
We want original work, so please do not submit anything that has been accepted for publication elsewhere!

Micro & Flash
All micro and flash fiction pieces are now handled through our monthly contests on social media, Teensy Tuesdays. To see our winners and learn more, click here.

What we don’t want:
We’d love to see your original pieces. This means no AI-generated or assisted works and no fan-fiction. Previously published material is not accepted at this time—this does not include work published on personal blogs or personal social media channels.
We encourage submitting writers to explore sensitive topics; however, this must be done tactfully. We never want to restrict how you express your dreams, but if any of the following topics are promoted or glorified by your work, then it will result in automatic rejection of your piece:
-
Derogatory language (racism, homophobia, transphobia, etc.)
-
Suicide
-
SA
-
Gratuitous Gore
